FILLER was a highly successful free weekly dose of synthetic beats, bleeps, tones, drones, spots, dots, pixels and pops formed by artist Richard Chartier. From May 2001-June 2003 FILLER was the Washington, DC area’s premiere showcase for new, avant-garde and semi-populist electronic music ranging from tech-house to minimalism, from electro to electro-acoustic, and stop-overs in-between. The Washington Post described it as “the most cutting edge stuff you’ll hear in town.”
FILLER was proud to host free events during its two years featuring local and internationally known electronic musicians and DJs including: Andreas Tilliander/Mokira, Tomas Jirku, Soundhack, Geoff White, Steve Beaupre, 87 Central, Matthew Dear, Safety Scissors, John Selway, Telia, Hrvatski, and Belgrade Yard Sound System.
FILLER showcased the work of local, national and international video and digital visual artists inlcuding screenings by AElab, Dmitry Gelfand and Evelina Domnitch, Alan Callander, Jeremy Berstein, and Phase4 as well as live visual performances by Sue Costabile, Jorge Castro, and Telia.
FILLER hosted promotional label focus events for respected electronic music labels including: M_nus, Mille Plateaux, Force Inc., 12k/LINE, Audio.NL, Fallt, Orthlorng Musork, International DJ Gigolos, Context, Oral, Ghostly, and Cocoon.
FILLER included resident DJs: Richard Chartier, George D’Adhemar, Milo, W.Alberque (5/01-11/02).
FILLER was strictly artificial.
